September 10th 2009, Cape Town, South Africa. What are those women and girls doing above? Good question. It looks like some are playing soccer, some are cheering them on, and all are having fun. Soccer Sisters, one might say.
Good answer. They were/are indeed, Soccer Sisters--
12 women and girls featured at our last photo shoot on August 1st 2009, helping Monasib to roll out its new track suits, shirts and
head gear, and have some good, clean fun, in preparation for the 2010 games.
But there's more. On August 1st, we didn't just attempt a penalty shot, we also skipped rope, played what we term 'tug-o-peace', and browsed through several renewable energy text books, among other things. And so what began as a 'Soccer Sisters' photo shoot transformed into a whole day of
'Sisters in Action'.
We believe that this name 'Sisters in Action' defines so many of us, as we whirl though the day. That's why we continue to focus on making clothing to suit the busy and active lifestyles of those women and girls in our midst. But that's not all.
We'd like to give you something to think about as you consider the Monasib label, namely our recently articulated company philosophy,
Clothing with a conscience. It's these ideas that help motivate us, day in and day out, to keep improving our game.
Finally, we'd like to thank all those who helped make our first four months so memorable. It has been an amazing start. We summary
the history here. We look forward to the next four months and to walking, hiking, skipping, jumping, soaring, along with you. And yes, our next event (
September 27th 2009) is a hike. Get ready.

May 10, 2009, Cape Town, South Africa. Something is happening. Something different. Something new. Something potentially for every active woman. And it’s called ‘Monasib’.
[i]
What? Monasib offers a new clothing alternative to women by providing modest active wear in a range of styles. In addition to yourself, think of your sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, female teacher (the list is endless). You can all find new ways to express yourselves in these garments. Those of you who work from home or in an office lead pretty busy lives. Sometimes so busy that you move from one appointment to the next without a break. The Monasib Night Day Suit is an ideal ensemble for a woman’s full day. Monasib’s Track Suit is perfect for the running track, and the hiking trail, while simultaneously providing a woman with all the style, modesty and comfort she desires. So pack your bags and let’s head to the Karoo...and while we’re at it, let’s consider a trek to Kilimanjaro. But it’s not just for serious hikers. Remember ‘something potentially for every active woman’. The Long-T and the Stylized T, which Monasib has developed, offer versatile and comfortable tops to take you from your neighbourhood to city centre. Monasib’s countless head coverings go one step further in offering women modesty and style.
What more? All of these garments are exceptionally easy to care for. They are made with natural fibres that ensure comfort. In addition, each style comes in different sizes (S-XL) as well as varying lengths, to suit your needs. All garments, to date, have been designed and manufactured locally, with 100% South African-made material, thereby supporting local industry. Finally, Monasib partners with the Technology Station in Clothing and Textiles for ingenuity and excellence in design and production.
Where? We simplify your lives by making our product available via
www.monasibclothing.com. Log on, take out your tape measure (assess your size in our virtual ‘fitting room’) and order. One, two, three. Within a day or two (for those residing in RSA) we’ll drop your garment at your door. Just a bit longer for those overseas. For those of you who wish a boutique approach, we can cater to you in Cape Town, Vredehoek. Check the web site for instructions about scheduling an appointment.
How much? Depending on the style and combinations, garments presently range from R50 (for certain head coverings) to R550 (for a three piece Night Day Suit). All pieces are sold individually, with the exception of the Monasib Track Suit. Please note: all costs are inclusive of VAT, but exclusive of shipping charges.
The Green Line? The Green Line is our newsletter and our primary means of communicating with you. But it also describes our company ethos. First, in keeping with our company policy ‘to be and do good on this small earth’, we are promoting healthy life styles for women. Second, Monasib chooses manufacturers based on best practices. Third, we strive for the smallest possible carbon footprint in our packaging, as evidenced by the green ribbon wrap (rather than a box). Finally, as a primarily Internet-based company, we minimize miles travelled by our customers. We take these steps to be socially and environmentally responsible. We hope you join us.
We look forward to dressing you.
