About Monasib
The word 'monasib' means ‘appropriate’.* It also means: suitable, fitting, proper, adequate, congruous and proportional. Monasib is the chosen name of our company. The single word describes our aim to produce appropriate clothing to facilitate the daily activity of women around the world, including the easy to wear and care for track suits and head coverings (especially the adjustable head covering), not to mention the scarf hat. Monasib also seeks to become synonymous with Clothing with a conscience and The Green Line, which together embody our company philosophy.

Monasib is an Internet-based clothing company, presently located in Cape Town, South Africa. The company is a product of many minds, hands and hearts. Owner, Katharine Nawaal Gratwick holds a B.A and M.A. from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of Cape Town, Graduate School of Business, where she worked as a Senior Researcher between 2004-2008. She has also worked as a consultant with Zoologic, Poten & Partners, KPMG and the World Bank.

Monasib's advisory board consists of a wide range of professionals spanning 4 continents. Ikram Kurdi and Carimah Fataar also lend their expertise to the enterprise, serving as consultants on a range of issues. In addition, Monasib is presently working in partnership with the Tshumisano Technology Station in Clothing and Textiles. Additional pattern design is provided by Fran Botes and Kaylan Classics. Monasib clothing is made largely from locally spun and knitted fabrics and stitched up in Cape Town, including via partnerships with Viking Sports, ZA Fashions,Carol D Designs, Global Headwear and Logomotif. Photography, graphic design and web development are provided by Moonmoth and Multi-Image Productions. Accounting and financial support are provided by Waheed Safa. Courier services are provided by TNT (internationally) and Ram Hand to Hand Couriers (within South Africa) to ensure garments get to you and yours (including via send a gift) as efficiently as possible. Fatima Jackson provides administrative assistance.

All Monasib models are working professionals and/or students, with diverse careers ranging from social work to opera, and we are honoured to have them model the Monasib range and help to change the face of fashion.
